ELULS CLE Committee Meeting

Call to Order 1:05 p.m. Bob Riggio
Bob Riggio provided handouts with agendas for the upcoming Environmental Crimes Annual Update Seminars. Bob Riggio discussed low attendance at seminars and the need to incorporate marketing strategies. Bob suggested moving up the schedule for distributing promotional materials to allow more time to market. 

Michelle Williams suggested expanding marketing outside of Section. Richard Hamann suggested using industry lists, publications and having a Marketing Chair or 1 or 2 people coordinate marketing strategies for seminars and workshops as well as using affiliates to help marketing by drawing on their expertise. 

George Gramling discussed opening up sponsorship of the Annual Meeting to law firms. Benefits would including listing in the brochure (next year), recognition on the T-shirt and signage and in course materials. It was recommended that the law firm sponsorship be priced at $750.00.

Larry Sellers suggested that we begin to incorporate marketing strategies into the Annual Update and that we designate marketers for update (Michelle Williams/George Gramling).

Bob Riggio then discussed the draft schedule for the Annual Update. The affiliates workshop will be marketed and charged as a separate workshop for the Annual Update. 

Bob Fingar raised the need to try to obtain continuing education credit for PG/PE attending the affiliates workshop. [Note: PG's and PE's do not yet have CE requirements.]

Larry Sellers suggested getting information to the media about the Annual Update. 

Michelle Williams talked about the move to a series of a multiple updates, 30 minutes long, with good materials - no panels. 

Discussion then moved to the Fall 2000 schedule. Susan Trevarthen will Co-chair November 3 seminar with Local Government Section in Tampa.

Looking for ideas for June Program (6/21/01). George suggested trying to do the canceled Wildlife Seminar next year since we can probably use the same course materials.

Discussion ensued as to when to do ELULS Executive Council in November. A decision was tabled until the Council Meeting.
