ELULS Section Affiliates began discussion of our goals for this year during the annual update last August. At the Executive Council meeting in November, I presented the primary goals for the Affiliates to the council members and I would like to repeat them here:

• Presentation of the Second Annual Affiliates Workshop, in which affiliate members will discuss various technical and regulatory topics of interest to Section attorneys. In the near future, we will be sending out a call for papers/presentations for the workshop.

• Participation in scheduled CLE workshops throughout the year and in the Annual Update. A list of scheduled training events is posted on the "Seminars and Workshops" page of the Section’s web page (www.eluls.org) along with the names of the workshop coordinators. Affiliates are encouraged to contact the workshop coordinators regarding participation in the presentations.

• Initiation of an Affiliates web page as part of the existing Section web page. A committee of affiliate members and Section attorneys has had several conference calls to discuss the goals and content of the affiliates web page. The initial objective of the Affiliates page will be to provide a means for Section attorneys to identify experts in various technical disciplines among the affiliate members.

• Preparation of an article for the Florida Bar Treatise.

     My goal for myself as Affiliate membership chair this year is to facilitate the above activities and to promote other opportunities for Affiliate involvement in the Section. To achieve recognition as a valuable part of the Section, it is going to take involvement of a good cross section of our Affiliate membership.
