Michelle Diffenderfer

Since our last CLE Update the Committee met April 5, 2002, in Miami. In the meeting we discussed and planned our upcoming programs.

Upcoming Meetings

Our next CLE meeting will be held August 24, 2002 in conjunction with our Annual Update that week at Amelia Island. Please feel free to come and participate, newcomers are always welcome. Contact me for further information on meeting times, dates and places.

Upcoming Programs

Our next CLE programs include our flagship Annual Update and Affiliates Workshop which will be held again at the Amelia Island Plantation Resort August 22-24, 2002. The Annual Update features agency updates from the General Counsels of the Water Management Districts, the Department of Environmental Protection, the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the Department of Community Affairs and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In addition, there will be great panel discussions from the leaders in Florida’s legal arena on the Water Wars and Sector Planning in Northwest Florida. Our Affiliates Workshop this year focuses on Environmental Insurance: the coverage, the cases and contractor requirements. Other seminars in planning include an Agriculture Law Workshop in Gainesville on October 18, 2002 and the joint ELULS/Local Government seminar in Tampa on November 8, 2002. Please keep an eye out for the agendas and sign up information for these programs which will be circulated. You will also able to sign up for these programs directly via the web at our Section’s website www.eluls.org.

If you have any interest in participating in our CLE programs or if you have ideas for future programs please contact me at Mdiffenderfer@llw-law.com or by phone at (561) 640-0820 or come to a meeting.

Past Programs

Our last CLE program featured updates on Wetland Regulation and Protection from all the agencies and consultants. It was held on April 5, 2002 in Orlando. All of our past programs are taped and the materials and audiotapes are available from the Florida Bar. So if you were unable to attend our programs the information for ordering audiotapes and course material is available on the Section’s website at http://www.eluls.org/publications.html or by calling the Bar, 850-561-5600 x 6661.

It has been a great year for the CLE Committee. The programs could not be done without the immense dedication of the co-chairs that sign up to put the programs together, our Section Administrator Jackie Werndli and the ELULS CLE Committee vice-chairs Jim Porter and Robert Fingar. Thank you for a great year. As always, please provide us with your input and thoughts for the coming year. We always need more help and like great ideas!
