The Committee on Access to
Justice (CAJ) continues to explore and promote opportunities to ensure
legal access for the poor on environmental and land use matters.
Several activities are underway.
First, the CAJ is expanding its highly successful initiative to
produce educational documents by distributing a survey soliciting
suggestions on topics. The survey is addressed to lawyers who
represent indigent clients. Once the information is obtained, the CAJ
will seek members of the Environmental and Land Use Law Section who
will write the brochures.
Second, the CAJ is working with the Florida Coastal School of Law on
its conference entitled “Environmental Summit 2001: The Universality
of Environmental Law and Sustainable Development”. The CAJ is
focusing on the environmental justice element of the conference.
