At its annual meeting on August 18, the Environmental and Land Use Law Section presented three
awards:
Kirby Green Receives Sadowski Award.
Kirby Green, Deputy Secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, received the Bill Sadowski Memorial Outstanding Service Award. When presenting the award, Section Chair Larry Sellers recognized Green's longtime commitment to public service, his unwavering professionalism, and his outstanding problem-solving capability. The award is named after William "Bill" Edward Sadowski and it is given each year by the chair of the Section to an individual who has rendered outstanding public service in the areas of environmental and land use law. Prior recipients of the award include Governor Lawton Chiles.
Bob Riggio Receives Stephens-Register Award.
Robert J. Riggio received the Stephens-Register Award for his significant contributions to the Section's Continuing Legal Education programs. The Stephens-Register Award is named for Dan Stephens and Bill Register, and it is given by the chair of the Section to a non-officer member of the Executive Council who has provided outstanding leadership and vision for the Section.
Treatise Managing Editors Receive Florence Award.
Mary F. Smallwood, Irene M. Kennedy-Quincey, Ralph A. Demeo, Sid Ansbacher, Richard Hamann, Anne Longman, Eileen Mahta, and Timothy A. Smith all received the Judy A. Florence Memorial Outstanding Service Award in recognition of their work on the Section's Treatise. The Florence award is named for Judy Florence, and it is given by the Section Council to persons who have rendered outstanding service to the Section.
