       CLE MANUAL COMMITTEE UPDATE

As noted in previous issues of the Reporter, major changes are currently in progress for the Section's CLE Manual treatise, entitled Florida Environmental and Land Use Law, Volumes I and II. The Section is committed to maintaining this resource as the finest work of its kind available. The CLE Manual Revision Task Force has been working on a new and improved Table of Contents for the treatise, which is nearly complete. The new and improved treatise will involve a complete rewrite and reformatting of the existing material, with reorganized and more narrowly focused chapters, coverage of new topics, and deletion of outdated or redundant material. In addition, at the Section's Annual Meeting in August, the Executive Council of the Section decided to pursue a partnership with a private publishing company to obtain expert assistance in making the new and improved treatise a highly professional, user-friendly, and frequently updated publication. The Section's goal is to create the most respected, reliable and relied upon publication available on environmental law in Florida.

Over the next few months, we hope to contract with a publisher, finalize the revised Table of Contents, complete development of revised editorial policies, guidelines and procedures, and assign authors and editors to prepare the new material for the treatise. Under new editorial procedures now being developed, the volunteer authors of material for the treatise will work directly with an assigned volunteer editor, who will guide and advise the author and substantively edit the material. The Task Force will begin assigning authors and editors for the environmental law chapters of the treatise before the end of this year. We plan to publish the environmental law volume of the treatise by June of next year.

If you would like to serve as an author of a chapter of the treatise, please contact Tom DeRose by phone (850/425-2207) or telefax (850/224-8551) or by e-mail (DeRoseT@HGSS.com). Authors may apply to the Bar for CLE credit for their work on this treatise. In addition, your assistance to the Section in support of this project will be greatly appreciated.
